The Global Pharmacy Program works to empower pharmacy professionals worldwide to provide quality pharmaceutical care for pediatric patients with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. 

 

Program Initiatives

 

Pharmacy professionals play an essential role in managing distribution and optimizing the safe and effective use of medicines. Our program aims to engage pharmacy professionals worldwide to advance pharmacy practice, provide education and facilitate research in the provision of pharmaceutical services. 

  • Community: Global Pharmacy aims to build a collaborative network of pharmacy professionals committed to the advancement of the profession and the care of pediatric patients with cancer.
  • Practice: Through programs supporting access to essential resources and guideline development, Global Pharmacy seeks to support the standardization and optimization of pharmaceutical care in resource-limited settings.
  • Education: The program aims to lead education of pharmacists and allied professionals on the safe delivery of medications and provision of clinical pharmacy services.
  • Research: Global Pharmacy works to facilitate and support research that will provide evidence-based guidance on pharmacy improvement models and the pharmaceutical care of pediatric patients with cancer.

    Short Biography

    Hannah Sauer is a clinical pharmacy specialist for the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine. She  earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Drake University in Des Moines. She completed her post-graduate residency training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a subsequent year specializing in pediatric oncology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Before joining the GPM team, Hannah worked as a clinical pharmacy specialist at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, where she specialized in solid tumors and served as a pharmacy residency program director. 

    Since joining the Pharmacy team, Hannah has worked tirelessly on the launch of the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines. She is eager to help grow the Global Pharmacy Transversal Program through development of pharmacy practice assessments, education and training, and networking opportunities. She is most grateful that this role allows her to merge her passions for advancing patient care, empowering pharmacy professionals and promoting education.

    Short Biography

    Julie Clyce is a Project Coordinator, Global Pharmacy for the department of Global Pediatric Medicine. Julie began her professional career as Assistant Director for the Pediatric Pharmacy Association (previously PPAG). After four years, she moved to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) as a Program Coordinator beginning in Pathology and moving on to cover multiple residency and fellowship programs in the core Graduate Medical Education Office. She received her MBA during her time at UTHSC and chaired many different core committees and projects.

    In her new role with the department of Global Pediatric Medicine, Julie is excited to help facilitate the training and resources needed to improve outcomes for children with cancer globally.

    Short Biography

    Camille Smith earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and brings over a decade of experience in clinical pharmacy practice, with a focus on investigational drug services, pharmacy operations, and sterile compounding.

    Camille most recently served as Sr. Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for the Investigational Drug Services team at St. Jude, where she led efforts in protocol development, operational planning, and education for clinical research initiatives. Her work has included designing training and workflow strategies for clinical trials, optimizing medication-use processes, and contributing to institutional system implementations. 

    Camille is excited to support the growth of the Global Pharmacy Transversal Program through sustainable training and capacity-building initiatives. She is driven by a passion for health equity, systems improvement, and the opportunity to help strengthen the pharmacy practice across diverse global settings.
