Pediatric Early Warning Systems (PEWS) / Proyecto EVAT

Pediatric Early Warning Systems (PEWS) are quality improvement tools to aid in early identification of clinical deterioration in hospitalized children. PEWS consist of a scoring tool, typically calculated by the bedside nurse with every set of vital signs, associated with an action algorithm to guide the clinical team in how to respond to a patient with deterioration. This website includes a summary of publications describing the impact, implementation, and sustainability of PEWS in high-resource and resource-limited hospitals caring for children with cancer and blood disorders.
