Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines Wordmark

See how the platform is transforming cancer care around the globe.

Fewer than 30% of children with cancer in resource-limited countries have successful outcomes. Access to life-saving cancer medicines is nonexistent, inconsistent, or too costly.

We are changing that.

In collaboration with World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Strategic Fund and with technical support from SIOP and Childhood Cancer International, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital established The Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines. This platform is key in our global efforts to increase childhood cancer survival rates.

St. Jude was founded on Danny Thomas’ dream that no child should die in the dawn of life. With the Global Platform, we believe this dream can someday be achieved for children stricken by cancer, no matter where they live.

Bridging the gap in access to medicines

In target countries, we aim to:

  • Increase access to care for thousands of children with cancer
  • Significantly reduce childhood cancer treatment disparity
  • Provide an uninterrupted supply of cancer medicines to children
  • Address systemic issues in medication quality and delivery
  • Create a sustainable model to ensure that these medicines are always available and timely

Together, we are transforming childhood cancer treatment around the world.

Pilot program is first step in global efforts

By changing the market for childhood cancer medicines, we are quickly helping thousands of children with cancer in resource-limited countries and ensuring that, no matter where a child is born, they have a chance at life.

On February 11, The Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines reached an important milestone by providing essential cancer medicines to two pilot countries, Mongolia and Uzbekistan, with impending shipments to four more countries, Ecuador, Jordan, Nepal, and Zambia.

Our collaborative efforts and comprehensive approach provide end-to-end support from medicine selection to distribution, aiming to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the program in these countries.

After this first successful phase, we will expand to more countries to help save more lives.

Access to quality medications is critical for the success of any programs at the country or global level. Children cannot survive, cannot have hope without proper access to essential medicines.
